Juan A. Latasa, President of MIT Entreprise Forum Spain

Juan is currently the CEO of J21 Partners Consulting & Ventures, a company he founded in early 2012, committed to helping high-growth technology companies in Telecom and Internet to develop their business in EU and LATAM (see He is also a co-Founder and Board Member of SwanLaab Venture Capital, a €40Mill. growth fund for Spanish global technology companies (see Initially a J21 project, Juan currently works for B2B Cibersecurity leader, Allot Communications (, as Marketing Director for Telecoms, mainly with Telefónica and Vodafone across multiple geographies.

Additionally, Juan is very involved in the entrepreneurship community in Spain, as a Mentor and Professor, teaching since 2016 Entrepreneurship at the International Program of Universidad Francisco de Vitoria in Madrid, and in 2018 he will start at Instituto de Empresa prestigious Global MBA.

Juan has extensive experience in the Telecoms and Internet industry, after more than 18 years working in three of the top Telecom Operators in the world: AT&T, Telefónica and Vodafone. He held different executive positions in Marketing, Strategy and Business Development, always in the forefront of the digital transformation of the industry the last two decades. Before that, Juan started his first startup as a small family business, which was at the origin of what today has become the VASS group ( with €92Mill in revenues in 2017 and 1.300 people in 8 countries.

Juan has a B.S. in Physics with honors from M.I.T. (1991- Boston, USA), and he started his professional career working as a Research Assistant at the MIT Media Lab, and he is an active Board Member of the MiT Club of Spain. He also holds an Executive MBA from IESE (1997- Madrid, Spain). He is married and is a proud father to a large family.

Clara Pombo, Trustee & Former President of MIT Entreprise Forum Spain

Clara Pombo holds a MBA (with Hons) from Sloan School of Management, MIT, Master Law Degree (LL.M.) from Fordham Law School, New York and a Law Degree from Universidad Complutense, Madrid and Gottingen University, Madrid.

She is Global Director at Intellectual Property Company Clarke, Modet & Cº, a responsible for Marketing and Business Development activities.She oversees a Global Team advising multinationals and local technology entrepreneurs on their IP filing and enforcement strategy in Latinamerica.

Prior to joining Clarke, Modet Cº she worked for T-Mobile International in London where she led and implemented the content acquisition and monetisation strategy of their Media Business. In addition to working in the telecom department for Gomez-Acebo & Pombo in Barcelona and Brussels, she started her career at Skadden, Arps, Meagher and Flom in NYC where she worked at their M&A department.

Pablo Fernández de la Torre, Founding President of MIT Entreprise Forum Spain

Pablo Fernández de la Torre holds an Engineer Degree with honors from Madrid’s Universidad Politécnica and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is Co-founder and CEO of New Network Solutions (N2S), a technology-based service company focused on intelligent building solutions.

Prior to that, he worked in engineering, in research and development, and management consulting. He has worked for TNT Logistics, at McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam and Madrid, for United Airlines in Chicago, as well as for the International Center for Air Transportation in Boston and INECO in Madrid.

Álvaro Berbís de Pedraza, Vice President

M. Álvaro Berbís holds B.S. (with honors) and M.S. degrees in Biochemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Dr. Berbís serves as Head of R&D and Innovation of Health Time Group. Prior to that, he was a post-doctoral researcher at CSIC. He has also performed research activities at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany), The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, U.S.A.) and CEU San Pablo University.

Álvaro is active in Spain’s innovation and entrepreneurship spaces, mainly as General Manager of Health 2.0 Madrid and as a Member of the Bankinter Foundation for Innovation Faculty, lecturing on Personalized Medicine and Pharma in top-ranking universities throughout Spain.

Mario J. Moya, Vice President

Mario J. Moya holds a BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering From Polytechnic University of Madrid, having studied part of his degree at the “Grande École d’ingénieurs de Paris – ENSTA” (École Nationale de Techniques Avancées) and has been involved in numerous specialized masters and post-graduate courses in business and international relations from ENA, SEI, CESEDEN and ICEX-CECO.

Mario J. Moya is an International Business Developer with over a decade of experience in innovative projects both with Universities such as MIT and with blue-chip companies such as EADS and Indra. In addition Moya has consulted international organizations such as the European Commission and a number of European startups.

His professional activity has been always focused on the development of new businesses, building strategic alliances and effective synergies between technological enterprises. Moya regularly guest-lectures at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) and Bankinter Foundation for Innovation. He is a Managing Member of the Europe India Chamber of Commerce (EICC)
