The Spanish chapter of MIT Enterprise Forum is directed by a team with wide range of experience and areas of expertise.
Clara Pombo, President of MIT Entreprise Forum Spain

Clara Pombo holds a MBA (with Hons) from Sloan School of Management, MIT, Master Law Degree (LL.M.) from Fordham Law School, New York and a Law Degree from Universidad Complutense, Madrid and Gottingen University, Madrid.

She is Global Director at Intellectual Property Company Clarke, Modet & Cº, a responsible for Marketing and Business Development activities.She oversees a Global Team advising multinationals and local technology entrepreneurs on their IP filing and enforcement strategy in Latinamerica.

Prior to joining Clarke, Modet Cº she worked for T-Mobile International in London where she led and implemented the content acquisition and monetisation strategy of their Media Business. In addition to working in the telecom department for Gomez-Acebo & Pombo in Barcelona and Brussels, she started her career at Skadden, Arps, Meagher and Flom in NYC where she worked at their M&A department.

Pablo Fernández de la Torre, Founding President of MIT Entreprise Forum Spain

Pablo Fernández de la Torre holds an Engineer Degree with honors from Madrid’s Universidad Politécnica and a Master of Science from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He is Co-founder and CEO of New Network Solutions (N2S), a technology-based service company focused on intelligent building solutions.

Prior to that, he worked in engineering, in research and development, and management consulting. He has worked for TNT Logistics, at McKinsey & Company in Amsterdam and Madrid, for United Airlines in Chicago, as well as for the International Center for Air Transportation in Boston and INECO in Madrid.

Nico Goulet, Treasurer, MIT Enterprise Forum Spain

Nico Goulet holds a BSc (Aerospace Engineering) from the École Centrale de Paris, an MSc (Aeronautics & Astronuatics) from MIT and an MBA from INSEAD.

He is a founder and Managing Partner of Adara Venture Partners since 2002 and has managed Venture Capital investments in high-tech companies since 1999. During this period he has been actively involved in numerous early stage ventures, serving on the board of 16 companies.

From 1992 until 1999 he was a partner at Monitor Company, where he gained experience consulting for global industrial and service companies in the pharmaceutical, infrastructure, technology and defense sectors. Previously he worked at Andersen Consulting in Paris, where his role included the development of proprietary methodologies for the management of technology-based R&D.

Carolina Tejuca

Holds a GSMP’s from Chicago Business School, an MBA from IE Business School and a degree in Law from Oviedo and Milano Universities.

Carolina is mainly an entrepreneur and a business angel. As an entrepreneur, she´s currently one of the founding partners of Emprende Capital, an online platform connecting entrepreneurs and investors. As an Investor, she is a member of Vitamina K, a new technology fund created by entrepreneurs. She also participates in other startups in different sectors .Carolina serves at the Board of GAM (General Alquiler de Maquinaria) a quoted equipment rental company and as Senior advisor for a Colombian University.

Prior to that, Carolina worked as an strategy consultant firms like Booz Allen and Concord serving global companies in TMC and Energy. She has also worked with different Business Schools during the long period she stayed at IE Business School.

Miren Zabaleta, Marketing Communications & PR, MIT Enterprise Forum Spain

Miren Zabaleta holds a BA (Hons) Degree in Economics and a Master´s Degree in Marketing Management from Esade Business School.

With over 12 years of experience in B2B marketing, both national and international, she has worked within the legal, software and event industries, encompassing passion for marketing strategy and communication.

Currently she is in charge of the Corporate Marketing Communications at Clarke, Modet & Cº, a global IP Company with offices in 10 countries. Prior to that she worked as Marketing Manager for Safelayer Secure Communications and served as Deputy Manager at IQPC Ltd a London based company, in which she was responsible for establishing the Spanish subsidiary in Madrid.

Álvaro Berbís, Vice President

M. Álvaro Berbís holds B.S. (with honors) and M.S. degrees in Biochemistry from the Complutense University of Madrid, and a Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology and Biomedicine from the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC).

Dr. Berbís serves as Head of R&D and Innovation of Health Time Group. Prior to that, he was a post-doctoral researcher at CSIC. He has also performed research activities at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (Germany), The Scripps Research Institute (La Jolla, U.S.A.) and CEU San Pablo University.

Álvaro is active in Spain’s innovation and entrepreneurship spaces, mainly as General Manager of Health 2.0 Madrid and as a Member of the Bankinter Foundation for Innovation Faculty, lecturing on Personalized Medicine and Pharma in top-ranking universities throughout Spain.

Mario J. Moya, Vice President

Mario J. Moya holds a BSc and MSc in Industrial Engineering From Polytechnic University of Madrid, having studied part of his degree at the “Grande École d’ingénieurs de Paris – ENSTA” (École Nationale de Techniques Avancées) and has been involved in numerous specialized masters and post-graduate courses in business and international relations from ENA, SEI, CESEDEN and ICEX-CECO.

Mario J. Moya is an International Business Developer with over a decade of experience in innovative projects both with Universities such as MIT and with blue-chip companies such as EADS and Indra. In addition Moya has consulted international organizations such as the European Commission and a number of European startups.

His professional activity has been always focused on the development of new businesses, building strategic alliances and effective synergies between technological enterprises. Moya regularly guest-lectures at IED (Istituto Europeo di Design) and Bankinter Foundation for Innovation. He is a Managing Member of the Europe India Chamber of Commerce (EICC)
