Cynthia Barnhart

Ford Professor of Engineering Cynthia Barnhart is Associate Dean of Engineering, Professor of Civil and Environmental Engineering and Engineering Systems, and director of Transportation at MIT. Barnhart’s teaching and research interests involve the development of optimization methods for large-scale transportation and logistics problems. Her approaches often require the development of new models and algorithms, and their implementations in real operating environments. Barnhart is a member of the U.S. National Academy of Engineering and has also served as co-director of both the Center for Transportation and Logistics and the Operations Research Center. She has been awarded the Franz Edelman Prize for Achievement in Operations and the Management Sciences, the INFORMS Award for the Best Paper in Transportation and Logistics, the Advancement of Women in Operations Research and Management Science Award, the Mitsui Faculty Development Chair, the Junior Faculty Career Award from the General Electric Foundation, and a Presidential Young Investigator Award from the National Science Foundation. Barnhart earned a B.S. degree from the University of Vermont in 1981, and her S.M. and Ph.D. degrees from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1985 and 1988, respectively. up

Luis Martin Cabiedes

In addition to teaching entrepreneurial finance at IESE business school, Luis is a full-time investor in Internet startups. He is a CFA Charter Holder and has a degree in Philosophy from Universidad Complutense and an MBA from IESE. In 1989 Luis joined Europa Press, where he was Co-President for 12 years. He created Europa Press Televisión, Europa Press Communicación, and restructured Europa Press Reportajes. Since 1998, Luis has been investing in early stage technology companies, mostly in the “consumer internet” space. First as a full-time angel investor, and more recently as General Partner of his own Angel Fund, CABIEDES AND PARTNERS SCR, he has made over 50 investments in companies such as Ole, MyAlert, Acceso, Baquia, and more recently, Privalia, Trovit, Offerum, Luis was born in Madrid in 1960 and is married without kids. up

Richard Kievel

Throughout Richards’s career he has been a strategist and entrepreneur focused on building international technology and biotechnology companies. He is Chairman and Co-founder of Rhapsody Biologics, a personalized vaccine company based in Singapore. Rhapsody is focused on improving the efficacy of existing vaccines and He was CEO of TheraGenetics Ltd. a UK based genetic diagnostics company focusing on the development and commercialization of pharmacogenetic diagnostic tests to guide and improve the treatment of Central Nervous System (CNS) disorders. Prior to this, he worked with multiple startups and served as CEO of Molecular Ware, Inc., a MIT spin-out and leader in genomic and proteomic microarray technologies. Richard also served as Chairman of the Global Board of Directors of the MIT Enterprise Forum and a member of the MIT Alumni Association Board, and is a judge for the MIT $100K Entrepreneurship Competition. up

Ali Partovi

Ali Partovi is an entrepreneur and business angel. He has been involved in 34 companies. Was Senior Vice President of Business Development at MySpace AB. He founded iLike, Inc. and has served as the Chief Executive Officer of iLike.com, Inc. and GarageBand.com. Mr. Partovi established himself as an entrepreneur by co-founding LinkExchange, in 1998. up

Bernardo Hernández

Bernardo Hernández is a Spanish tech entrepreneur and business angel. He serves as VP of Product at Yahoo and is Managing Director at Flickr. In the past he held the title of Director of Product Management at Google and was the Managing Director at Zagat. He has started, alone or with other partners, some of the most successful internet companies in Spain, such as ZIdealista.com, FloresFrescas.com or 11870.com. He has been an early investor in Tuenti, a leading social network in Spain where he served as President of the Board until the sale to Telefónica in the summer of 2010. He is also President of the Board of the first internet start up in Spain to go public, bodaclick.com. He is founder and president of StepOne, a company that helps Spanish tech companies in their Internationalization. From this company he has started the first Computer Science talent exchange program between Spain and the Silicon Valley, Jóvenes con Futuro. up

Kenneth P Morse

Kenneth has been a high performance leader in global high tech sales and sales management for over 35 years. He is visiting Professor, in various Business Schools and Chair in Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Competitiveness, Delft University of Technology. Founder and Managing Director of MIT Entrepreneurship Center and MIT Enterprise Forum Global Board. He is Chairman of Entrepreneurship Ventures, Inc. Member of Telefónica Disruptive Council, Member of Citi SFS Advisory Board, member of Commercialization Advisor, Scottish Enterprise, New Zealand GNS Science External Expert Panel, Commercialization Advisor, Dynasil Corporation, Member of Barcelona HiT: The Hothouse of Innovation & Technology and Board of Advisors for several ambitious start-ups. He has a Bachelor of Science by MIT and a MBA by Harvard Business School. Ken was appointed to the recently-created National Advisory Council on Innovation & Entrepreneurship by Secretary Locke and President Obama (Washington), and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations (New York City). up

Peter Kurzina

For the past nine years, Peter has been a Senior Lecturer in turn-around and crisis management, and entrepreneurship at MIT's Sloan School of Management. Two of the courses he has taught are Managing in Adversity and Corporations at the Crossroads: The CEO Perspective. In addition, he has led Student Treks and Study Tours to Saudi Arabia, Vietnam, Singapore, Malaysia, Denmark, and Spain. He has taught at SKOLKOVO, the new Russian international business school outside of Moscow and been involved with the SKOLKLOVO MBA Program for several years, making frequent trips to Moscow. He has also taught in the Goldman Sachs funded 10,000 Women Program at Yunnan University in Kunming, China, as well as lecturing in Brazil. up

Robert Mighall

Dr. Robert Mighall is a brand strategist, writer and corporate storyteller. Post doctorate at University of Oxford and past Editor of the Penguin Classics series, he helps companies big and small explain themselves better through narrative. Part brand consultant, part writer, he has over 13 years’ agency experience, working for the likes of GSK, Shell, Pearson, Lloyds Banking Group, Anglo American, Capita, Severn Trent, JLT, The Share Centre, The NHS, and Steria. up
